X Factor – changed my mind again!
Despite the host of people that think it is a load of rubbish, it remains the most popular tv programme in the UK.
I’ve been a fan of Matt, then Katie but on Saturday I thought that Rebecca and Paije were the best. It was great to see Cher do something so different and she was really good. Rebecca has a unique voice and each week sings without any errors or wobbles, she certainly deserves to win. Paije too has a great voice and very individual.
Be interesting to see if Katie and Matt were ever in the last two as Matt’s recent interview outside the rehearsal studio showed that he really cannot stand her. He said the best way she could make up for her recent behaviour was to leave the competition. As Simon said, it would be a less interesting competition without her as each week she looks different and sings some quirky songs. Didn’t really like last night’s, thought it a bit twee and quite cabaret but I still like her voice and watching her perform.
I’m not sure now there really is a clear winner apart from Wagner. He’s made it this far so I think the public could well put him through to the finals! We might see Ann in the finals of Stricly Come Dancing too….
The clocks have gone back
….they SPRING forward in the spring and go back in the winter.
I thought it happened tonight so I was caught out this morning as was my mum. Nice to gain that extra hour though, gives me more time to get into the spooky spirit of halloween.
BOO!
ps Yes, the clocks go back here in Spain too!
DVD rental Nueva Andalucia
The DVD rental shop in Nueva Andalucia near the casino is open on Sundays, 4pm-10pm.Telephone: 34 952 812 076
Apparently SKY are also offering free SKY movies this week-end, I’ve had a look and have to say they are very old films that you have probably seen eg Last Night in the Museum 2, Star Wars, but worth a look in case you did miss a film.
Have a very happy halloween……
Bonfire Night and fireworks Marbella
I would really love to take my three monkeys to a bonfire night celebration and don’t mind driving to get to it….anyone know of anything going on for bonfire night, either in Gibraltar/Sotogrande/Calahonda or Fuengirola?
Halloween party
I’ve had fun today for a change after a crazy Monday and Tuesday at work, decorating the house ready for the halloween party. I’ve also put my baker’s hat on and made some home-made treats for the big day.
All the decorations came from El Corte Ingles in Puerto Banus or the supermarket in La Canada. My favourite was the zombie corpse bride. She lights up and wails when she moves and was under 8 euros from La Canada. I also like…my flapjacks!!
Heaven is right here
I often listen to Radio 4′s thought for the day and mostly it doesn’t hold much interest for me because of the religious slant. However a couple of weeks ago a Jewish Rabbi spoke about life now being nothing more than a departure lounge and that heaven could be experienced here and now.
He said he experienced heaven each and every time he did a good deed, everytime he let someone cross the road, everytime he offered help and assistance without thought. The warm glow he felt he described as a little glimmer of what heaven would offer us all.
I’ve had my little glimmer of heaven this week and the wonderful thing about that slice of heaven is that someone else benefits too. You and the person you offer help to.
So go on, try it, do a good deed, because even if you don’t believe in heaven it will still make that time and moment a better one for you and someone else.
ps Just don’t offer any help to an estate agent …..they can help themselves.
Post Office at El Corte Ingles
The post office used to be on the ground floor of El Corte Ingles in Puerto Banus. They then moved it downstairs to the basement, far away near the florist section, in the hope that nobody would find it.
Well they did. I know because I joined a queue for 40 minutes this afternoon. I began to wonder after 20 minutes in the queue if you could get thrombosis by standing still. I also began to feel a bit faint and wondered would anyone really care if I crashed into the evil china dolls in flamenco dresses that the department store tries to peddle to you whilst you wait…and wait.
As far as product placement goes why would they devote a whole section to Spanish products, Chucky like dolls with melted faces and overpainted lips and vacant eyes wearing Spanish costumes or fat bulls with Viva Espana leering at you over the handle of a mug. – next to a post office. A post office is used by most people that live here and we don’t want bottle openers with a randy cow looking at us painted in red and yellow or a torso of a doll for hiding a toilet roll under her frilly skirt. I knew I was bored when I actually considered buying a 10 euro doll for my daughter. They hate dolls and these would probably have given them nightmares.
The only thing that livened it all up was eaves dropping into people’s conversations and seeing people become more and more irate.
Anyway, I didn’t get thrombosis, I didn’t buy a doll but I did get bored…..they should have put the post office next to a perfume counter because then at least we could have a spray of new scents and give ourselves asthma whilst we wait…
X Factor, who do you want to win?
I love the x factor as it is the only programme that brings us all together to watch tv each week. It ends too late being an hour ahead for the children but I’ve let them stay up late on the proviso that they sleep in tomorrow and are not grumpy gremlins during the day.
I love Matt Cardle but I’ve now changed my mind and would like Katie Waissel to win. She’s not only a really interesting singer to listen to she can entertain. Loved her rendition of the Jungle Song and not just because I used to dance around the corridors at Uni singing it…..happy days.
My husband wants Rebecca Ferguson to win and by golly she can sing. My 12 year old daughter Gin Gin wants Matt Cardle to win but only if he remembers her name and continues to wear thin knit jumpers that embrace his mighty biceps.
Erikita who is 9 wants the boy band to win, One Direction, but only if the curly haired boy goes out with her….
Either way, there are a lot of really great singers in this competiton and I think more than one have the X Factor.
Halloween cakes for your party
I was thinking of making a halloween cake for the party next week but then I remembered Something Cakey and their fab range of cake toppers.
Just had a look at their website and they do some really spooky themes, loving their pumpkin Jack o’lantern.
If you are having a halloween party, or indeed any other party and want to make your own cake but want a bit of help with the top part to make it extra special go to this link. The lady that owns the company ships worldwide.

Costa del Sol hospital to bill you for your care
You won’t have to actually pay, but each time you have treatment you will receive a bill to show you how much your treatment has cost.
So next time you have a heart attack or need a biopsy, consider staying at home and save the hospital some money. But do not fear. Should you die, they kindly won’t send you the bill…..
Can I suggest that the time, admin and paper that this scheme costs makes it totally daft! Who is going to think twice about having treatment when they receive a bill that they don’t even have to pay? And if they aren’t thinking twice, what is the point of it?
