Rock n Rose

One of my favourite bloggers, Wish Wish Wish was wearing such a pretty pendant….and I love pendants.

I have a penchant for a pendant.

My eyes are fixed upon the pendant that Rock n Rose has below.  It is just so cute. A teeny brass  typewriter complete with paper.

They deliver to Europe for £2.95……so I can’t even say I can’t have one because they don’t deliver to Spain….because they do.

Smile Awards

Since I’ve just moaned about miserable people working at customer services I thought I’d mention anyone that deserves a smile award. I just LOVE going back again and again to any business in Marbella where the staff are friendly and make an effort.

First award goes to a shop which sadly Idon’t know the name of but I always go there for a cake and coffee if I’m with the children in La Canada and call the lady that works there the “Smiley Wiley Lady.” It is upstairs inbetween the two tapas restaurants near KFC. It sells ice-creams and then further into the shop lovely cakes. It was taken over sometime ago and the cakes have improved 100%. I love the apple cake there…. The lady there always smiles, she is just so lovely.

Second award goes to a restaurant in Puerto Banus, near where Goya is. It’s about the third restaurant/cafe along to your right of Goya if you were facing it. It is always busy and on Sunday it was doing really well with breakfasts as all the other cafes were shut. If you can’t make money as a cafe bar, on a Sunday in Puerto Banus in August then when can you? Have no idea why their competition were closed. The waiter there was great, very chatty and witty and made us both laugh. Will certainly go back.

I also love the Argentinian waiter that works at the tapas restaurant in La Canada to the left of the Smiley Wiley lady’s ice-cream and cake shop. He is always smiling and  you can just tell he loves life and his job. We go back again and again.

Lastly try the Italian Kitchen in Marbella run by a husband and wife. Great food, great service and the wife is very funny. She always tells my husband off if he hasn’t visited for a while and pretends to be upset with him. She remembers us, we remember her and yes, we go back…..

Any other smile awards you want to give out?

A smile a day….

keeps the doctor away. I wish the lady that works at the laundrette in Elviria would smile. I think the shop is called Clean it and I use it now and then for some apartment bedding/ironing.

The lady there is just the most miserable lady I have ever met and she moves so slowly that I think if there was a slug race from the end of the shop to the till, the slug would win. She not only doesn’t want to smile, she doesn’t want to reach the till to serve me.

I’d love to go somewhere else but since the laundrette in La Canada closed down ( and I miss the lovely lady that worked there) this one has become the most convenient.

So my most miserable awards go to a lady in the Marbella post office and one of the ladies that works at Clean It in Elviria.

Have you got any nominations?

A levels and IGCSEs out today

A big day for a lot of children with the A level results and the IGCSE’s out today.

Hope that everyone got the results that they wanted. If not don’t despair….there are many paths to lead you to your goals and if you have to take a term or a year out to re-take in the grand scheme of your whole life it is just a mini blip. It just may not feel that way today……

Coastal road madness

It is getting even more scary on the coastal road now from Marbella to Mijas.  The speed reduction is now from 120km to 80km but drivers are still clocking well over 120km on the fast lane. It means that if you are doing anything like the legal speed limit on the fast lane that you end up with a car up your bottom and you don’t have the accelaration to get into the other lane unless you hit at least 100km or more because in the other lane too drivers are not obeying the 80km speed limit.

To make the more sensible 80km speed limit work they need to get more police on the roads or install cameras. I’m not a fan of the big brother approach but if we can’t police ourselves by obeying the speed limit then the law will have to do it for us.

I can’t see the point of driving 80km per hour when everyone else is still doing 120km plus because it makes the roads very dangerous.

Pretending we are at a hotel

Erika thought it would be a great idea to buy some croissants and have breakfast this morning by the pool. She went out yesterday afternoon and bought some and I was up really late today (7.45am…which is a lie in by the dog’s standards…) I’ve had two cups of tea, have hoovered and mopped the downstairs floor, fed the dog, watered the dog, played with the dog, exhausted the dog and I’ve still not eaten the croissants.

I am such a good girl.

Given up on trying to wake the children naturally so I’ve just sent in my husband with his big boomy voice and now everyone is stirring.

So we are off to the pool with our croissants to pretend we are at the the Marbella Club Hotel.

I have a vivid imagination.

Happy Monday :)

Marbella begins to stir

We took a few snaps whilst munching our croissants…..

The largest chocolate croissant I’ve ever seen and yes it all got eaten.

I heart Marbella……

New in Mercadona is a gel de bano in Vainilla for just 1.50 euros. They have it in coconut  too, but personally I love the vainilla. Gorgeous smell and I prefer it as a shower gel to a bubble bath.

Try it….!!

They also have it in a body moisturiser.

The label says Monogotas Vainilla, Gel de Bano en Crema 400ml.

Pullling power of a Ferrari

Waiting outside a petrol station yesterday it was fascinating to watch people’s re-actions to a smokey grey Ferrari that pulled up to fill up with petrol.

One girl on the forecourt walked to the passenger’s window and began having a conversation with the driver who was still inside his car. Would loved to have eaves dropped on that one….. Another man stopped filling up his car with petrol so that he could then start a conversation. Two others stopped in their tracks and just stared at the car with their jaws open.

I think the pulling power of the Ferrari is such that even if you look like a squashed rhino and had webbed feet, you’ll find that men and women still want to talk to you……about your car.
