Really easy apple tart recipe.

I bought from Mercadona a packet of ready made pastry. This made over 3 side plate sized apple tarts. Buy from Mercadona the grease proof paper too, already cut to the perfect retangular  sizes.

Use a side plate to cut the pastry into a perfect circle. No need to roll out the pastry, it is already done for you and contains two sheets. Place your pastry circles onto greaseproof paper.

Melt around 2oz butter ( NOT MARG ) in the microwave.

Brush the pastry circles with the melted butter. Be generous.

Sprinkle light brown sugar on top of the melted butter. Be generous.

Peel and core around 3 Granny Smith apples. Peel thinly.

Put the apple slices ( around one apple per circle) on top of the pastry circles.

Sprinkle again with the light brown sugar.

Brush the apples with the melted butter.

Shake some cinnamon on top.

Put in the oven around 200 degrees for around 7 minutes. WATCH CAREFULLY…you do not want to burn the pastry. It wil go white, a litte fluffy and then begin to go a little golden. Set an alarm so you don’t get distracted as if you are going to go wrong, this is the bit that will do it!!REMOVE.

Turn on your grill. Put the tray under the grill for around 3 minutes until the apples and sugar have gone a lovely golden brown. You could also use a chefs blow torch, but I’m not allowed one for safety reasons…..Have you ever smelt singed hair?

This is the closest apple tart to those served at Goyo in Puerto Banus. Delicious today with a big dollop of vanilla ice-cream and a dusting of icing sugar. I didn’t get a photo of the “pretty finished look” as they were all wolfed down in around 5 minutes…..DELICIOUS and virtually no washing up as the greaseproof paper goes in the dustbin.
