What a great night
Last night watching Spain vs Italy in a Spanish bar in the centre of Marbella was the best night I’ve had during the past 10 years of living in Spain.
Marbella was a river of red and yellow, men, women and children all dressed up in red, with funny hats, face paints, with smiles on their faces. Each time Spain scored the whole of Marbella leapt to their feet, horns were blaring it was just a very special thing to share. I was so overcome at the end of the evening that I kissed the waitress and red is now my absolute favourite colour……
After the match everyone headed to the high street in Marbella which was partially closed off and the celebrations continued. The cars were beeping their horns throughout the night;the Spanish really know how to celebrate.
My daughter commented that one day she would like to return to Spain to live, because they know how to party and how to have a good time…and all without being drunk and mindless.
It really was just the best way to end our time here in Spain and I felt really proud to be part of the scene last night.
Spain has taught me to let go a little…a lot…..celebrate when you can because you never know what is around the corner and making some noise, well it is ok……and when life throws something nasty at you, put on some red, make yourself smile and play Papa Americano on full volume.
Adios Espana…..xx
