Benalmadena Pueblo is further back from the sea and is nearly 300 metres above sea level. It is a charming part of the town, with the narrow, steep streets and whitewashed houses which are so typical of traditional Andalucian villages, awash with hanging crimson bourgainvillea. If you enjoy history then head to Benalmadena Pueblo to see what remains of the many ancient civilisations which have helped shape this area.
Benalmadena in Spain, offers something for eveyone, young and old. There are the museums and archaeological sites, sandy beaches, the marina, the square, traditional tapas bars and the local fiestas where the Spanish, expats and tourists in Benalmadena can join in the street parties and celebrations that spring up on a regular basis.
For children take them to Paloma Park to have a run around chasing the wild chickens and roosters that abound, and the odd tame rabbit too. People seem to drop off their unwanted rabbits at this park and it is quite peculiar to walk around Paloma Park and see the odd, fat rabbit hopping about. The odd child seems to catch one too if they go armed with a juicy carrot. Go in Spring and you will see the chicks scattered everywhere, following their mums with stray cats sitting close by in the sun not seeming to be the least bit bothered. Obviously they have a good breakfast on a regular basis. There is a lake at Paloma Park to feed the ducks and swans and there is a restaurant here too serving burgers, ice creams etc. Paloma Park is also free to enter and is a really good place for toddlers with lots of energy to go as they can run around in reasonable safety trying to catch a chicken and there are play areas for them to enjoy too.
