Puerto Banus restaurants

If you are looking for a good Puerto Banus restaurant I can highly recommend Naga Thai restaurant. Naga Thai restaurant is located in Puerto Banus close to the gorgeous Goyo cake shop and opposite El Corte Ingles if you come out by the jewellery exit door.
The food at Naga is superb, the right amount of spices and really fresh ingredients. Beautifully presented. We had a chicken dish served in a hollowed out pineapple. If you are not sure what to order leave it to the staff as we did. They made a great choice. The children had their fried noodles with chicken that went down a storm.
It isn’t cheap, but a really good quality restaurant, very good service with happy and helpful waiters. You will enjoy…..

Lamoraga Puerto Banus opposite El Corte Ingles department store

If you are looking for posh tapas then these dishes of which Iberian ham is their speciality ( pigs fed on acorns). Tapas start from around 4.50 euros which is about 2 euros per dish more expensive than the tapas chain 2 doors down by bookworld Espana which I really love. Lamoraga is immaculate inside, very modern, with smart and attentive staff. The tapas we ordered arrived one by one rather than altogether which I found a little odd and the lamb tapas was my absolute favourite. The “pig burgers” were also very good. Small portions, this is tapas so you would need a couple per person. The tapas chain two doors down from Lamoraga, by Bookworld Espana ( down a little sideroad on the pavement) is much cheaper, more rustic, and the tapas is all served on slices of crusty bread. You are charged per cocktail stick and you help yourself to cold tapas from the counter or wait until lunchtime when they come around with hot tapas. I love their chicken and pork dishes on crusty bread. As a family when they come around with these types of tapas we clear the plate entirely. At the end they also come around with mini tapas desserts. Both Lamoraga and this tapas chain serve great tapas. Personally I prefer the rustic charm of the latter but both are worth a try.

Wok Away in Puerto Banus near the central square

Fresh ingredients, all cooked in front of you but I think this is very overpriced, with throw away plates and the decor is looking shabby. If you doubt me just look up at the ceiling. I have found the service there to be either friendly or frosty, never inbetween. The adults portions are just under 9/10 euros. The children’s menus are around 6 euros and were absolutely awful. I took three children here aged from 8 to 11 and they all left their food. I won’t be going back again, tried it twice and that was enough for me.

Picassos in Puerto Banus

Situated front line marina in the summer you can’t miss it as there will be queues snaking around it waiting for a table. Be patient as it is a large restaurant so you should find a table. The value of the pizzas is excellent for the location and of a high quality. They are so large you can easily share one between the two of you and their desserts are good too. The chocolate brownies and New York baked cheesecake are very popular in our house. Contact them on 952 81 36 69 as you will need to book a table if you plan to go there this summer in the evening. You can also book online via their website and they welcome hen and stag night celebrations in Marbella and Puerto Banus too.

VIP in Puerto Banus

I haven’t eaten here, I’ve just had a coffee, but the service was good and for tourists the menu is simple as there are photos! VIP’s had a marketing idea which I thought was genius. For a mere 1 euro 50 you can have a taster of their desserts eg chocolate brownie, cheesecake etc. I went for a coffee with my 8 year old and the chocolate brownie taster was enough for her. So I was able to have a coffee and she could have something sweet as a treat and it didn’t break the bank. If you like something sweet with your tea or coffee then VIP’s has the solution and for only 1 euro 50 cents I think they deserve every success. It always seems busy there too when I pass it on the corner on the way to park at El Corte Ingles.

Trader Vics Polynesian restaurant in Puerto Banus

Decor is very attractive and service is good and the food is presented very well. Their cocktails are also presented in a fun and attractive way ( eg one is served inside a coconut shell). However the food here is expensive and there never seems to be enough of it. So we always ended up with a mammoth bill or still hungry. As a result we no longer go here, but if you want a special celebratory meal then this restaurant is a good choice.

TGI Fridays

This used to be great but now TGI’s in Puerto Banus has past its sell by date with overpriced food, lack lustre staff and shabby decor. In October 2009 the Hard Rock Cafe opened up in Puerto Banus and TGI’s has been hit hard. However TGI’s welcomes children and does lovely kids birthday parties unlike the Hard Rock Cafe which makes a point of NOT doing kids parties.

Hard Rock Cafe

Good value, and a well priced kids menu. Really aimed at adults who want to dine and enjoy their vast variety of cocktails in the evening. Trendy decor and a good location, just a short walk around the corner, across the road from the department store El Corte Ingles. The Hard Rock Cafe at the time or writing, Dec 09 does not do any form of kids parties. No pre-booking, no balloons, no decoration of the table and if you do come with children you have to eat and sit with them the entire time. So good choice for dining with children for lunch but not a good choice if you are thinking of having a children’s birthday party here. Speciality of the Hard Rock Cafe are their large meaty burgers.
