Bad grammar t’is getting on me nerves
I was watching “I’m a celebrity” on tv and Sabrina’s poor grammar is starting to grate. She’s not unintelligent and she is hearing all around her people speaking correctly, so it means either she’s just not listening and is rather arrogant, she is stupid or just doesn’t think it matters. Perhaps all three.
“We was” is her favourite. “I were”……”I done it”…..My London in laws say the same thing. It really drives me loopy, yes along with those bright purple Juicy Courture jogging suits. Grumpy old lady, that’s me.
This isn’t about regional accents, it is about correct usage of the English grammar. Correct tenses, correct use of irregular verbs. Whilst we are on the subject of the English language, can I also point out that the word “apartment” is NOT spelt ” appartment”…..
Now I’m off to bed and tomorrow I’ll get out the right side. Or is that the write side? We’ll leave my rant on bad spelling for another day. It will give me time to get the spell checker out on previous posts!!!
