Chinese lanterns on the beach
We have just come back from releasing several Chinese lanterns on the Marbella beaches. I took children with me from ages 9-14 and I can’t tell you how much we all enjoyed the experience. I’ve never seen Chinese lanterns in the UK or Spain but I’m totally hooked now. No party should be without a Chinese lantern, released as soon as it gets dark.
They were much larger than I had expected, about a metre tall and very easy to light. No candles, you just need a match and you light two corners of a block. Everyone held a corner of the white lantern and we counted to around 75 and then released the lantern. It went up quickly and REALLY high. On the website of fiesta sky lanterns where we had purchased them it does say they go high. Seeing was believing though….the lantern actually went higher than a cloud. I’m not kidding. We all made a wish as it went up and it made the end of a party very special indeed.
